Spotlight on: Health Care Decision Making

Everyone has the right to make decisions about health treatment they receive from a health care provider.

All adults are presumed to have capacity to consent to health care unless there is evidence of impaired decision making capacity.

The Health Care Decision Making Act 2023 addresses the gap in Northern Territory law concerning health care decision making for people who have lost some or all of their capacity to make their own health care decisions. It also governs the provision of urgent health care without consent to adults and children following the repeal of the Emergency Medical Operations Act 1973.

The Northern Territory Government is developing the Royal Darwin Hospital Landscape Master Plan which will guide the development of future green spaces at RDH. Have your say in the Master Plan by completing the survey, which takes 5 - 10 minutes to complete and closes 5pm on 3 July 2024.

Interpreters at RDH

Did you know that more than 100 Aboriginal languages and dialects are spoken in the Northern Territory? Aboriginal languages of the NT vary greatly in their grammatical structures, concepts and vocabulary. Information on interpreter services in the ED can be found in the Clinical menu (or directly here)
